Chicago Bears a major betting focus after pre season win
The Chicago White Sox look like a team that is capable of winning the 2021 World Series, and that team has built up a massive fan-base in the Southside of Chicago.
While following the White Sox will keep a large percentage of sports fans in Chicago happy, the Chicago Bears have started to become a bigger focus.
Chicago will kick off the 2021 NFL season on September 12, but the betting action on “Da Bears” has already started to heat up. The Bears picked up an impressive win in the preseason opener last Saturday, and that has raised expectations for the regular season.
The Bears are set to take on the Buffalo Bills in Week 2 of the preseason and they are consensus 4.5-betting favorites at most sportsbooks in the state of Illinois. Chicago was an underdog in the preseason opener, but many sports bettors were able to win big by betting on the local team to win.
This game has plenty of storylines as Mitchell Trubisky is set to see plenty of action at quarterback for the Bills. Trubisky was not a fan favorite during his time with the Bears, but he will be out to prove himself in this matchup.
The impressive win in the preseason opener still hasn’t made the Bears the betting favorites to win the NFC North, but the odds have been heading in the right direction. At sportsbooks in the state, the Bears are now +500 to win the NFC North, which is behind the Green Bay Packers and Minnesota Vikings.
Winning the NFC Championship still seems like a major longshot for the Bears, but this is a team that has been in the playoffs over the last few years. Chicago is currently being offered at +2400 to win the NFC, which trails a number of teams that have plenty of talent.
The Bears are getting ready for the season with a lucrative new sportsbook partnership with Rush Street interactive.
Fields For MVP?
The Bears were able to pick up a win in the preseason opener in large part thanks to the play from rookie quarterback Justin Fields. Andy Dalton is still expected to start the season at the QB position, but Fields is going to get on the field at some point.
Fields has been a popular pick to win the Rookie of the Year Award at sportsbooks throughout the country, but that market is seeing plenty of action here in Illinois. The former Ohio State product is listed right around +500 at most sportsbooks in the state, but that isn’t the case at DraftKings Sportsbook.
DraftKings opened the odds for Fields to win the Rookie of the Year Award at +850, and they are freezing those odds at this time. That odds freeze will end when the second game of the preseason kicks off on Saturday, but that still leaves plenty of time to get in on the action.
There is a $25 max bet on this promotional opportunity at sportsbook.draftkings.com, but it could still lead to a big payday if Fields is able to win this award. Playing time will likely dictate the chances for Fields, but he appears to be playing his way into more of a role.
